How prayer times are calculated

The five daily prayers are anchored to the sun's position at your location: Fajr at true dawn, Dhuhr just after the zenith, Asr by shadow length, Maghrib at sunset, Isha at the disappearance of twilight. Compute them for the wrong city — or with the wrong convention — and you can be off by many minutes. That's why accuracy needs two things:

  • Your real coordinates, not the nearest big city. SAWM 360 uses your geolocation directly.
  • The right calculation method for your region's convention (Fajr/Isha sun angles differ between, e.g., Umm al-Qura, MWL, ISNA and Egyptian methods) — configurable in Settings.

A notification designed for khushu', not noise

When a prayer enters, SAWM 360 doesn't just buzz. The notification opens on a quiet, focused screen — "It's time for prayer" with a rotating hadith, like "Islam is built upon five…" — and two honest buttons: "I have prayed ✓" and Close. That single tap is the difference between an app that nags and an app that tracks.
